"Por Fin"
Oil On Linen    16" x 12"
by
Anthony A. González

I'm trying to work with a Black and Red theme.
There is something I like in these two colors.
It's been used by many artists with great affect.

Detail Image
This detail image is only to show the brush strokes
and what they can do.

This is when I started the painting.

"Tal Ves"
Oil on Linen  16" x 12"
by
Anthony A. González

This is my latest painting.  I've been  away from
my easel for awhile and it's good to be working again.
This painting is quite simple in composition and color.
Here I'm working with mostly her expression.

"Una Vez Por Todas"
Oil on Linen   16" x 12"
by
Anthony A. González

This painting is now being exhibited at
the Lovetts Gallery.

I have a new gallery, Lovetts Gallery in Tulsa OK.
Last Wednesday my wife and I traveled to Tulsa to
visit the gallery and meet with the owner, Jack Summers.
I also took some paintings to show him.  It was the first
time visiting the gallery and it was a long nine hour drive.
We had a nice time visiting and meeting with Jack Summers.

I will be in their upcoming show in March.
The opening will be on Friday, March 15, 2013
and I will be giving a demonstration on
Saturday the 16th.

"Determined"
Oil on Linen   18" x 24"
by

I have several fabrics and textures working in this painting.
The model is looking stern but has a very determined look.
It seems to work well for what I was looking to achieve.

Expressions and Attitudes of Women by Anthony A. González

"A Caring Look"
Oil on Linen   12" x 16"
by
Anthony A. González

The model's eyes and gesture makes this painting.
She is staring at the viewer and is saying something,
and you can fill in your own opinion.

I try to remove as much of the small details when painting, but when it
comes to the eyes I paint what it takes to achieve as much
expression as I can.  I would like your comments on this painting.
Thanks.

Expressions and Attitudes of Women by Anthony A. González

"Una Vez Por Todas"
Oil on Linen   16" x 12"
by
Anthony A. González

I have never painted a small painting for as long as I did
this one, nearly a week.  I repainted it three times before
I was satisfied with it.  The reason is that here the model
had a look that I needed to capture and I was not going to
give up on it.  The attitude and expression was too good
to miss in this painting.  Color was my biggest concern,
than the expression of the eyes was next.
Patience was the virtue this time.

"Then There Was One"
Oil on Linen   12" x 9"
by
Anthony A. González

It took me awhile to finish this painting,
not because it was difficult to do but
I just enjoyed painting it.
I just took my time, something that
one should do to enjoy the process.

Here is a close up of "Then There Was One"

"I Care"
Oil on Linen  12" x 9"
by
Anthony A. González

I'm going to try to photograph close ups of my work.
You may find it interesting.  I use soft hair
mongoose and bristle brushes.
This painting was painted with a bristle brush.

"From the Past"
Oil on Linen   36" x 18"
by
Anthony A. González

The model came with her dancing costume
that had these ostrich feathers as part of the
dance that she performs.  I liked the challenge
of the feathers.

"It Must Be"

I'm playing with darks to get an emotion.
Nothing like a dark painting to give you that feeling.

"Debe Ser"

I've been painting this model for her
quiet undertone look.
I find it very interesting.

and the model worked well with the mood
of the painting.

"Maria Working in My Studio"
Oil on Linen  30" x 40"
by
Anthony A. González

Here I decided to paint my studio set up with my model,
Maria, posing.  It was late and I had the light very warm.
Those who follow my work know I like to paint
warm paintings.
I would like some feed back on this painting if you like.

"My Dancing Dress"
Oil on Linen  12" x 9"
by
Anthony A. González

My model was wearing this wild dress and it
seemed to have a lot of attitude.  She looked
like she was going dancing but stopped for a moment.
The painting came out looking very well.
I only wish it was a full figure painting.
Maybe next time.

"La Espera"
Oil on Linen  24" x 18"
by
Anthony A. González

This painting gave me a bit of a challenge because
of the shawl and all the strands.  The color is very strong,
but I think it works over all. Her look is very straight forward.
If you look at other paintings of mine, you can see that I like to
keep the composition basic, once in a while it's good to work
in a more complex composition.

"Back Stage"
Oil on Linen  36" x 24"
by
Anthony A. González

I like the way this painting turned out.
She is giving a great look and attitude, just what
I like in my work.

Once in awhile there is a painting that  captures
most of the elements that I want in a painting.
I like the way her look engages the viewer.
For me this painting is timeless.

"Solo Dime"
Oil on Linen   12" x 9"
by
Anthony A. González

In this painting I am trying to capture the look of
wanting to know.  I have her staring so that I can have
the viewer connect with her feelings.  It is a simple
composition and I think the red in the scarf gives
an interest to the painting as well as her expression.

All and all it was a very good night!

"Oil Sketch"
Oil on Linen  12" x 9"
by
Anthony A. González

Here I felt like using a bristle brush
and heavy paint.  It was an oil sketch
so I painted it in one and a half hours.

This freed me from over thinking the work
and keeping it as simple as possible.  I
included a close up to show the brush strokes
 Hope you like it.

"It Maybe So"

This look cried out to me, I had to paint it.
It can conjure up many thoughts and all can be right.
My paintings are simple to understand
but can be  thought provoking.
